"The Braintree Art Association is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the visual arts."
We were founded in 1960 by a small group of talented and dedicated art enthusiasts. The Braintree Art Association has been a constant presence in the community providing support and inspiration to an ever-growing membership. There are currently over one hundred members from Braintree and the surrounding communities. We have a full schedule that provides opportunities for all to participate. Our monthly newsletter keeps members updated.
Our activities include:
•
Monthly member meetings at the Thayer Public Library with a demonstration by a prominent local artist.
•
A Spring Art Show at the Thayer Academy Art Gallery
•
A Fall Art Show at the Thayer Public Library
•
“Artist of the Month” recognition at the Thayer Public Library
•
An opportunity to display your work in the lobby of Braintree Town Hall
•
Participation in the “Arts Affair on the Boardwalk” Marina Bay
•
Annual “art sale” at the Town Hall in conjunction with the Braintree Farmers Market
•
Group excursions to art exhibits and venues
• A scholarship award to a Braintree High School senior who is pursuing an education in the arts
In the near future we hope to have a permanent “home” where we will have classes, workshops and paint-ins. We welcome new members. Our demos at the Thayer Public Library on the third Thursday of the month are open to the public and offer a great opportunity to get acquainted.
